Electro-Optical Engineer

HunterLab, a leader in color technology, has an exciting opportunity for an Electro-Optical Engineer to join our team. The Electro-Optical Engineer is responsible for leading the design and introduction of the next generation of HunterLab's spectroscopic instrumentation. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Under limited supervision, designs and tests new and existing optical systems for optimal instrument design
  • Design and test optical systems
  • Specifies and/or designs electronic circuits for instrument designs
  • Design computer programs, spreadsheets, etc. for testing optical systems
  • Write reports on findings
  • Make formal and informal design presentations to others
  • Keep up to date on "state of the art" in electro-optic field
  • Manages projects with multi-disciplinary design team for total product design. Identifies and uses outside resources as needed
  • Other related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements: 

Education:
B.S. in Physics, Optics or Electronics Engineering, M.S. preferred

Work Experience:
5+ years related product development work experience

Skills:
Lens design, optical component specification, especially optical gratings, stray light analysis, optical breadboard fabrication, electronic design

Capabilities:
Broad understanding of electro-optical systems design and optical subsystems. Familiarity with optical design tools and methodologies, computer programming in LabView or similar languages. Understanding of color measurement and spectroscopic principles desirable. Circuit design proficiency desirable.
  

Graphic Design/Marketing Intern

HunterLab is looking for a Part-Time Marketing Intern to assist supporting the needs of our Marketing department. This is a paid internship with flexible hours. 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist in the creation of communications that effectively describe and promote HunterLab products, including the website, print media creation, graphics, brochures, product fact sheets, logos and other promotional products.
  • Assist in ad design and placement.
  • Input information in the customer database including lead entry and fulfillment.
  • Assist in e-blast and direct mail campaigns.

Minimum Requirements: 

Education:
Pursuing bachelor's degree, preference would be with a Marketing specialization.

Work Experience:
Some graphics design with an interest in marketing experience preferred.

Skills:
Basic computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, experience with InDesign, PhotoShop, or other graphic design software preferred.

Applications Specialist for Colorimetry

We have anexciting opportunity for an Applications Specialist for Colorimetry to join ourteam. The Applications Specialist will provides technical advice in the fieldof color and appearance measurement to HunterLab customers, salesrepresentatives and distributors, other internal HunterLab departments andindustry groups.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provides technical problem solving skills and support for HunterLab customers, direct sales representatives and distributors for both domestic and overseas international markets.
  • Provides internal technical support to HunterLab Marketing, Manufacturing and Service (2nd Level Help Desk Support).
  • Provides HunterLab software training and support to customers. Defines and tests software modification requests.
  • Prepares applications studies (sales support or fee-paid) for HunterLab clients concerning color and appearance measurements can be used for their manufactured products.
  • Maintains HunterLab’s corporate image of technical expertise in color and appearance measurement.
  • Provides technical advice in the field of color and appearance measurement to industry groups and standards organizations.
  • Provides interpretive expertise for the color and appearance standards of national and international standards organizations.
  • Presents educational programs such as webinars, seminars and workshops, on color and appearance measurement.
  • Defines and tests custom CMR solutions for clients as needed that help provide unique sales advantage.
  • Evaluates HunterLab and competitors instruments and software/firmware.
  • Creates new product development specifications in conjunction with Engineering 

Minimum Requirements: 

Education:

Undergraduate degree inscience preferably in the fields of color science, chemistry, physics,mathematics or engineering.

Work Experience:

Some technical experiencein manufacturing, preferably in quality control or R&D involved in themanufacturing processes.

Skills:

Evidence of good oral and writtencommunication skills. Experience, training, and/oreducation in color and appearance measurement. Personal computer literacy withknowledge of MS Windows, Word, Excel and Access.

Capabilities:  

Abilityto be creative in analyzing spatial and conceptual factors is useful intechnical problem solving in this field. Hightolerance for ambiguity is helpful. Ability to work independently withminimum resources is a plus. Ability to work with others in seeking solutions isessential. 

Technical Writer (contract, project based)

HunterLab, an establishedmanufacturer of color measurement instrumentation in Reston, Virginia has theneed for a project-based experienced technical writer. The technical writerwill develop product user’s manuals and service manuals for HunterLabinstruments and software so that documentation is provided to customers withevery order. Work will be on a per manual project basis. 

We are looking for atechnical writer with experience in documenting product and service manuals. Candidatesmust be proficient in RoboHelp, Camtasia Studio, Microsoft Publisher, and AdobeAcrobat to be considered.
