The Self-Contained Color Measurement Spectrophotometer

ColorFlex® is an economically priced, self-contained color measurement spectrophotometer. It can be used in production or in the laboratory for inspecting raw materials and evaluating finished product. To best fit your measurement requirements, ColorFlex is available with 45°/0° or diffuse/8° measurement geometry. Unlike many systems that require an external computer, it has an internal computer with integrated software. Data is easily read on the large display and operations are performed using a simplified keypad. Its small size requires very little bench space.

ColorFlex is a highly versatile system designed for rugged, real-world use. It is able to tackle a variety of color measurement problems from the basic to the sophisticated. With its port-up or port-forward measurement orientations, ColorFlex is ideal for measuring powders, granules, pastes, liquids and opaque or translucent solid materials. And, with a variety of sample-handling accessories, it adapts to your specific sample handling needs. Specialized versions of the ColorFlex are available for the tomato industry and citrus industry. These systems include specializes calibration standards and measurement scales appropriate for the industry.

The HunterLab ColorFlex Tomato Color Meter system has met the criteria set by the USDA for the evaluation of color in tomato products in accordance with the U.S. standards for grades of tomato paste, tomato sauce, tomato catsup and tomato juice. As recommended by the USDA, the ColorFlex Tomato Meter's standard for scores is traceable to the UC-Davis master standard. The Tomato Meter eliminates subjectivity of visual methods and gives reproducible objective measurements. In practice the tomato sample is poured or spooned into a sample cup. The cup is placed onto the instrument measurement port. By pressing one button on the instrument the measurement is made. TJ (Juice Score), TK (Catsup Score), TP (Paste Score), TS (Sauce Score) or AB (a/b ratio) will be displayed. The Tomato Meter can be connected to a printer if hard-copy data is desired.

The ColorFlex Citrus Color Meter system is for the measurement of citrus color, as it measures the Citrus Number, Citrus Redness and Citrus Yellowness. These indices were primarily intended to score orange juice concentrate, but in practice have also been used for grapefruit and lemon juice. The ColorFlex Citrus Meter eliminates the subjectivity of visual methods and gives reproducible objective measurements. In practice the citrus juice sample is poured into a 1"-diameter glass test tube. The test tube is inserted into the tube holder. By pressing one button on the instrument the measurement is made. CN (Citrus Number), CR (Citrus Red) and CY (Citrus Yellow) will simultaneously be displayed. The ColorFlex Citrus Meter can be connected to a printer if hard-copy data is desired.
