Richard Hunter received many awards over the years. These awards are proudly displayed in the corporate headquarters in Reston.

 

ASTM Award

Richard Hunter received the ASTM (American Society of Testing and Materials) Award of Merit for significant contributions to the evaluation of optical and appearance properties of materials.

Godlove Award

Richard Hunter received the Godlove Award from the Inter-Society Color Council for his use of color in art, science and industry. This award is proudly displayed in the Corporate Lobby on a revolving lighted-base. At night the different colors of the spectrum can be seen from the nearby highway shining through the front window as the award revolves.

Armin J. Bruning Award

Richard Hunter received the first Armin J. Bruning Award "for the most outstanding contribution to the science of color in the field of coatings technology" The award was established in 1962 by John W. Masury & Sons Inc., of Baltimore, in memory of Armin"Joe" Bruning, who headed the Color Control Departments at Masury and the H.B. Company.

The Macbeth Award

Richard Hunter received the Macbeth Award of the Inter-Society Color Council. This award is given for his important contributions in the field of color.

David Richardson Metal

Richard Hunter received the David Richardson Metal for his distinguished contributions in the optics field.

Optical Society of America

Richard Hunter received the Optical Society of American Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to optics in the field of applied colorimetry; for his pioneering design of photoelectric instruments to achieve accurate and precise measurement of color and color difference; for devising instruments that have enabled industry and agriculture to specify numerically and compare product appearance properties such as gloss and whiteness; and for spreading knowledge of the concepts and methods of colorimetry through his publications and the educational workshops he has conducted.
