Can Power Supplies in HunterLab Instruments be used everywhere?

Posted on September 19, 2012 by Gordon

FAQ: “We need to take our LabScan XE instrument to Germany for some plant trial testing.  Our machine is a US spectrophotometer 110v unit and, obviously, the power supply in Germany is 220v. The label on the back of the instrument says ‘110v-220v’, which sounds a little ambiguous to me.  Do we need a voltage […]

Optimal inter-instrument agreement and communication of color values

Posted on September 17, 2012 by Shannon

To communicate color values effectively, completely specify the 6 parameters of your measurement method and verify that your color measurement is repeatable. These are the key factors to ensure inter-instrument agreement. The best inter-instrument agreement in color measurement at multiple locations occurs when a product is measured with the same instrument model from the same […]

What is the Hunter Rd, a, b Color Scale?

Posted on July 12, 2012 by Gordon

The Hunter Rdab opponent-color scale, developed in 1943, was an early version of the Hunter L, a, b scale.  Instead of L, Rd is used to designate lightness and is identical to the CIE Y Brightness/Luminosity value.  Sometimes the Rd, a, b color scale is shown as LRd, aRd, bRd.

If I select D65/10 to read XYZ what will happen when I read YI?

Posted on July 3, 2012 by Gordon

FAQ: “One question we are a little unclear about – if you set X, Y, Z on D65/10° in the Color Data View to read back the White Tile for a calibration check, will it make the YI Yellowness Index read in D65/10°, or is it fixed to C/2°?”
