Benchtop Directional Geometry (45°/0° and 0°/45°)
Directional (45°/0° and 0°/45°) geometry spectrophotometers and colorimeters replicate the human visual response to color and are best suited for applications where gloss and texture affect the color measurement. Directional spectrophotometers automatically take texture and gloss into account to allow for more accurate color measurements.
HunterLab offers directional geometry spectrophotometers/colorimeters that can measure samples from a general range of products and instruments uniquely designed to measure the color of specific products like roasted coffee or tomato products.
Benchtop Non-Contact Directional Geometry
This unique measurement method does not require instrument contact with your samples, making it perfect for samples that are not smooth and uniform or are messy. Heavily textured samples can be challenging to measure and may require extensive setup and cleanup routines. For example, non-contact spectrophotometers/colorimeters are extremely beneficial when evaluating food and beverage products like snack foods and coffee beans.
These solutions reduce sample preparation time and cleanup time while ensuring absolute measurement accuracy and consistency. Without coming in contact with the sample, these spectrophotometer or colorimeters can produce a more precise measurement of a sample as a whole.
HunterLab’s Aeros is the only SMART spectrophotometer for color measurement. This non-contact instrument can take 35 measurements in five seconds, making it a must-have for fast-paced applications.
Benchtop Sphere (d/8°) Geometry
Diffuse d/8° sphere spectrophotometers or colorimeters are recommended for transmittance color and haze measurements of transparent liquid and solid samples, and color measurements of opaque samples where it is desired to negate the effects of sample gloss and texture, as is necessary in the color formulation process when determining the effect of pigment variations irrespective of surface characteristics.
Unlike 45º/0º spectrophotometers, D/8º spectrophotometers measure the color of a sample including or excluding gloss, texture or other geometric sample attributes. This tool also allows you to measure the color of a transparent sample’s transmitted color. Spherical spectrophotometers/colorimeters can capture these measurements because they illuminate a sample from every direction, offering evaluation methods unavailable with other color measurement tools.
Our sphere spectrophotometers/colorimeters allow users to take various measurements, including color , haze , gloss and the effects of UV and IR on a sample.
